I have drawn and painted all my life. My family was heavily into the arts. I studied art at Clemson University. Upon graduation, I took my army officer commission, entered active duty, and retired with 22 years of service. During that time, I developed my photography skills, which have proven so valuable for my painting. My last assignment was Huntsville, AL, where I joined the Huntsville Art League, and for 3-years of a 4-year span, I was the president of the organization. The opportunities of the total of 8 years were endless in developing and finding my way through life as an artist. I have been selected to participate in numerous juried art shows, such as Panoply in Huntsville, AL and the Monte Sano Art Show.
I like to call myself an abstract expressionist who is inspired by horses and many other subjects. I believe abstraction is purely the simplification of life. My paintings focus on color and showing the movement and excitement of the moment rather than the precise shape of the subject. I rely on my emotions and feelings to create the scene with emotion and excitement as my goals.
