Painting with words is a love that Ardith Goodwin has as much as painting with pigment, and she has a passion for both. A mixed media acrylic painter of figurative and non-representational abstraction, Ardith has built a vast body of work for the past 15 years and has devoted this year to focus on her fine art children’s book project, The Predictably Unpredictable Tales From The Land of Ardithian.
This project combines conceptual, mixed media figurative works serving as character portraits, fine art illustrations, non-representational abstraction, and written poetry and fiction as she illustrates and writes the project as a whole. Her style is complex, full of dynamic movement and complex energy, paired with a vivid and unexpected use of color and details.
One of the things she values most is using her vivid imagination to create a world that is full of wonder and visual delights, and inspiring others to choose and embrace their own versions of beautifully different and interesting. “When a viewer or reader experiences my project, I want part of their heart to be compelled and engaged in challenging ways and at the same time, filled with delight and unexpected beauty in a slightly whimsical and non-sensical way,” says Ardith.
Her experience as a full-time working artist spans almost 20 years, she has built a large following and online education network from her teaching and consultations, and she travels internationally and here in the states offering creativity and art experiences for the serious painter and the serious creative. Her studio in Mobile, AL, is where she hosts artist residencies, mentor workshops, and art experiences that combine learning how to paint with discovering one’s intimate, unique visual language and point of view. Her works are collected worldwide, in personal, private, and corporate collections.
